Meet and Greet

A meeting between a model and client, which is not in regards to a specific assignment, but rather meant to introduce the model to the client so he or she will be considered for future jobs.

Model Permit

If a model is under the age of eighteen, she or he will need to obtain a work permit from the board of education before work begins.

Modeling Agency

Modeling agencies are organizations that handle all the business transactions for the roster of models that they represent. These agencies take care of securing modeling jobs, making arrangements for models, and often work directly with photographers.

Parts Modeling

Modeling of a specific body part, as chosen by the model. This can include hands, legs, and feet.

Per Diem

A payment given to a model by a client, to cover any expenses while traveling for a job. This can include paying for a model's lodging, transportation, and food.

Petite

A model is generally considered petite when her height is less than 5'8. This type of model is rarely used in runway work or fashion modeling, but can have a career in promotional, commercial, or parts modeling.

Platform Model

A model who appears on stage for a product demonstration or new product launch. Platform models often demonstrate beauty products or hair techniques.

Portfolio

Also known as a model's book, a portfolio is a showcase of a model's photographs and experience.

Promotional model

Any model hired to increase visibility or generate interest in a product or service. Promotional models often work at conventions and trade shows.
