Day Rate

The process of paying a model for a days worth of work with a pre-arranged amount of money, rather than an hourly wage- generally for days which do no exceed 8 hours.

Editorial Print

The pages of a magazine used to show fashion, trends, clothing and other editorial content. These pages are produced by the magazine itself, and generally do not pay as much as commercial print work.

Fashion Modeling

A type of modeling in which the clothing or accessories are the focus of the photos or event. The purpose is to sell clothes, and can include runway, fashion magazine, and certain catalog work. There are many physical restrictions for this type of modeling, including height, which must be above 5'9 for a woman and above 6'0 for a man.

Figure Modeling

A type of modeling where nudity is used for artistic purposes.

Fitness Models

A model with a more sculpted and toned physique, generally used to promote events in the health and fitness industries.

Fitting

The process of trying on clothing or costumes before a photo shoot, runway show, or other events. Fittings are used to make sure the clothing fits properly, and to make alterations if necessary.

Fitting Model/Fit Model

Any model that has the exact proportions and body shape to fit perfectly into a size needed by a designer, whether it be a size 4, 6, etc. It is very important that fitting models maintain their weight and measurements, however the appearance of their face is not important.
