Call Back

A second meeting between a model and a client after the initial go-see or audition. This is used to further evaluate the model and gather more information before the final hiring decision is made.

Casting Call

An announcement put forth by a producer, director, or casting agent for the purpose of recruiting models or actors for an upcoming project.

Cattle Call

An open audition or casting call, attended by a large group of models.

Character Model

A model that may not look like the average model, but has unique facial features that can be useful for selling a product. A character model can also be a model who dresses up as a character for holidays, theme promotions, and special events.

Commercial Look

A model is considered to have a commercial look when he/ she can easily identify with the target market, usually through a common look, age, or ethnicity.

Commercial Modeling

Modeling for the purpose of selling a product, which is most often used in print or television advertising. Products can include food, beverages, household products, appliances, hair products, etc. There are far fewer requirements and physical restrictions for commercial models than for fashion or glamour models.

Commercial Nudity

This is very similar to implied nudity, except it is used in commercial modeling. It is not meant to be highly artistic or glamorous, but rather to help sell a product.

Composite Card

Also known as a Comp Card, this is a card which contains several photos of a model, as well their height, weight, hair color, eye color, size and contact information. This is valuable promotional tool for models because it is sent to potential clients.

Contact Sheet

All the shots from a single roll of film, displayed on a single sheet. Contact sheets are produced by the photographer to make it easier to select the best photos.
